Court Removed Umahi As Governor Of Ebonyi State – See Why

Ebonyi State Governor Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, will no longer have power over the state. 

In November 2020, Umahi, Kelechi Igwe, and others left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Beginning Tuesday, March 8, Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered the PDP to immediately send names of replacements to INEC so that fresh elections can be conducted.

Why Was Umahi Remove As Governor?

After citing section 221 of the constitution, the court declared his defection unlawful, unconstitutional, null and void and ordered him to immediately vacate their offices.
