The Federal High Court has accepted the electoral documents submitted by the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Mr Peter Gregory Obi, in an important advancement for Nigeria’s political environment.
The party and Mr. Obi have made a substantial legal advance in their fight against the election results with the revelation of these documents.
Documents from the 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Rivers states were allowed into evidence and designated as Exhibits PB1 to PB15 by the court.

“These documents form a key part of our argument and we believe will help shed light on the truth,” said a representative from the Labour Party.
The court also accepted voting forms from the 23 LGAs in Benue state, designated as Exhibits PT1–PT23, in addition to the records from Rivers.
Exhibits PD1–PD18, which show the presidential election results from 18 LGAs in the state of Cross River, were also admitted into evidence. With this choice, the entire electoral process is seen from a broader angle.
In order to further diversify the geographic distribution of the evidence under consideration, the court continued by admitting outcomes from LGAs in Niger State, Osun, and Ekiti.
Following the admission of these documents, the court has adjourned further proceedings in Obi’s petition until June 2, 2023.
