To help Oyo residents who have been financially affected by the coronavirus in Oyo state lockdown, the Governor of Oyo State has flagged off food distribution in the state on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa.
Makinde said the palliatives would be distributed to 90,000 poorest of the poor households and 30,000 vulnerable households in the 33 local government in Oyo state.
The governor also visited the Model Primary Health Care Centre, at Oja Oba, Igbo-Ora in the state which will he promised to be converted to an isolation centre. The centre has the capacity to take 40 beds.
In a statement by Makinde he said; “Today, we were at Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa to flag off the distribution of palliatives to 90,000 poorest of the poor households and 30,000 vulnerable households. I stated that I have mandated that the distribution for the first 90,000 should be done in the next three days.”
“I enjoined all traditional rulers and leaders in various zones in Oyo State to keep an eye on the distribution to ensure that only people who qualify get the palliatives. If they suspect any foul play, they should contact us,” he said.
“On our way to Igbo-Ora, we stopped at the Directorate of Vocational Skills and Entrepreneurship Studies at the Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, where Adire (tie and dye), bedsheets, and face masks are being produced.”
He concluded by saying, “We also visited the Model Primary Health Care Centre, Oja Oba, Igbo-Ora which will be converted to an isolation centre. The centre has the capacity to take 40 beds.”
