Claim: US intelligence reports that two Poles were killed by Russian missiles.

In a dinner hours of Tuesday, the Polish media reported that missiles had struck a grain drying field in Przewodow, a village in eastern Poland close to the Ukrainian border.

A top US intelligence official claimed that the Russian fired the missiles.

I am extremely concerned about the reports’ potential to spark a dangerous war, thus we will always verify the accuracy of any news involving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

False and misleading information about the missiles that fell into Poland has spread rapidly on social media since two people died in NATO member Poland from the attack.

Our rating: False

According to a preliminary report from the United States, the Ukrainian military fired the missile that landed in Poland in reaction to an oncoming Russian missile.

According to “three US officials,” who spoke to the Associated Press under the condition of anonymity “because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly,” initial indications indicate that the missile was fired by Ukrainian forces in response to an approaching Russian missile to prevent an attack on Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure.

Russia also refuted claims that it was involved in the explosion in Poland.
