Many people were kidnapped by gunmen who invaded the Edo train station.
On Saturday, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen abducted an unknown number of travelers at Igueben Station in Edo State who were waiting to board a train to Warri in Delta State.
The kidnappers also inflicted injuries on many other passengers according to the report obtained by MandyNews.com.
The tragedy occurred around 10 months after some terrorists attacked an Abuja-to-Kaduna train, killing a large number of passengers.
The Edo Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, released a statement confirming the event that occurred on Saturday.
He described how the AK-47-wielding kidnappers broke into the train station, fired randomly into the air, and abducted several of the intended passengers.
A few of the intended passengers received gunshot wounds, according to the police spokesperson.
He did, though, claim that the victims’ rescue attempts had already started.
“This is to inform the gentlemen of the press that today, January 7, 2023 at about 1600hrs, unspecified number of herdsmen armed with AK 47 riffles attacked the train station at Igueben, Edo State, and kidnapped unspecified number of passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri,” the police spokesman said in a statement.
