Demonstrators seeking an end to the extortion and killing by the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Nigerian youth which has been trending since 2017.
The 2020 peaceful protest in support of the End Special Anti-Robbery Squad (END SARS) started with Nigerian musicians Falz and Runtown in Lekki toll gate then they marched on from there to Lagos State government house.
Amnesty International documented at least 82 cases of torture, abuse, and unlawful execution carried out by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria between Jan 2017 and May 2020.
The cases included hangings, torture chambers, hostages, and extortion.
