At least five lives were lost while one other is in critical condition after suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Odigitue community in Ovia North-East LGA, Edo state, on Saturday.
Mandy News gathered that the herdsmen invaded farm land along the Benin-Akure express road.
In a video obtained by MandyNews, sympathizers were seen lamenting and criticizing the unabated attacks and deaths carried out by herdsmen in the area.
A member of the community who was recording the video called on the state commissioner and the state governor and criticized them for giving land to the herders.
He said, “Live coverage governor Obaseki, look at the people dying in Odigitue community. The havoc of Fulani Herdsmen. This is what they did to a fellow human being in a ward where we have a commissioner, where we have a governor, Godwin Obaseki.”
He added, “Governor Godwin Obaseki, you sold our land to them.”
This is not the first time herdsmen have invaded and killed farmers in Edo State. According to the late former deputy governor, killers are everywhere in southern Nigeria waiting to cause havoc this year.
