Ebonyi — The Federal High Court denied sacked Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi’s request for a stay of execution of the March 8 judgment on Monday.
Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the motion after Chukwuma Ma-Chukwu Ume, SAN, counsel for Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, requested that the motion be withdrawn, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s lawyer, Emmanuel Ukala, SAN, did not oppose the application.

The motion for stay of execution was marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/920/21, and it was filed by the PDP against INEC and three others.
The judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to receive the names of the PDP’s candidates to replace them as soon as possible.
What does this judgment mean?
Umahi wanted a court order to stop the earlier judgment that sacked him as governor, but the court refused.
