Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Lionel Messi is in quarantine after contracting coronavirus.
Messi tested positive along with Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico, Nathan Bitumazala, and one club staff.
In a statement shared to PSG’s official website by the club, they said: “The tests carried out during the winter break and before the start of training revealed 4 positive cases of COVID-19 among the players and 1 positive case among the staff. The individuals concerned are subject to the current COVID protocols.”
The celebrated footballer will not be joining PSG to face Vannes in the French Cup’s round of 32 on Monday.

How Did Messi Contract Coronavirus?
On 28 December, Lionel Messi was sighted at a party in Rosario, Argentina with his family. Messi revealed this on an Instagram post, but Paris Saint-Germain announced him on Sunday as testing positive for the coronavirus.
Lionel Messi is currently isolated at home in Argentina. He will remain in the country until his tests are negative.
