Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, died abruptly on Friday, April 22, 2022, and was mourned by devoted admirers all around the world.

The Alaafin of Oyo died of malaria in the early hours of Saturday at Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Ekiti State. On Wednesday, Oba Adeyemi was brought to the hospital after contracting malaria.
How Was Alaafin Buried?
The transition and burial rites of the Oba, Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, was traditional.
The Oyo Muslim community, led by Sheilk Masud Adabayo Ajokideru, the chief Imam of Oyo, performed a seven-minute prayer on the remains to pay their last respects to the late monarch before handing the remains over to the Isoro for the final traditional rites which led to the final burial on Sunday, April 24th.

Kabiesi, the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, was buried in Bara, Oyo State, the same place where several previous Alaafins were buried.
