Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers state, has strongly urged delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra not to vote for former governor Peter Obi.
According to the video obtained by MandyNews, Mr. Wike made the speech during a Sunday visit to Light of the Nation.
The 59-year-old politician said he came to the southeastern part of the country to tell delegates the truth.
“I know he will not win. Are you not aware?”, he said.
Wike, whose term as governor expires next year, promised to defend Anambra residents and begged for their support.
“I know your son Peter Obi is running, but the issue of Nigeria’s presidency cannot be taken from the APC through theory.”
“PDP needs a man who has what it takes to practically engage and wrest this power from APC”
Many individuals on social media have criticized the governor for courting Peter Obi as a result of his speech.
On the 27th of March, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike declared his intention to contest for the presidency of Nigeria in the 2023 election.
Since then, he has traveled to numerous Nigerian states to solicit support from delegates.
In many of his speeches, he has stated that he will never withdraw for anyone, and he has also stated that he does not intend to run for vice president.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary is slated for May 28-29, and on that day, the delegates will decide the winner.
