Ex-Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been arrested this morning from his home over his involvement in the “Barcagate” scandal in which the club allegedly hired a social media company to publicly discredit players and staff.
According to a report by Cadena SER, The Mossos d’Esquadra, the police force of Catalonia have searched the offices of Barcelona at the Camp Nou amid a corruption investigation dubbed Barcagate.
Recall months ago Mandy News, your best source of credible information, published an article about how the Spanish Laliga giant, Barçelona had hired a company called I3Ventures, whose purpose was to create opinions on social networks through accounts that defended the board of directors and defamed different personalities such as Joan Laporta, Víctor Font or even footballers like Gerard Piqué and Leo Messi.
Barcelona’s then-president Josep Maria Bartomeu denied the accusations as of the date.
The other arrested are Óscar Grau, executive director of the club; Jaume masferrer, Bartomeu’s advisor and right-hand man, and Romà Gómez Ponti, head of legal services. More arrests are not ruled out, as explained in SER Anna Punsí.
