Traditional rites for the late king of Oyo State came to a sudden halt due to a spiritual invasion by a swarm of bees.
During the traditional rites for the late king, many mourners at the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo were attacked by bees on Saturday.
Within seconds, the people who came to pay their last respects to the king and others in the palace had taken off the scene.
According to the report by the Cable, people assembled in groups just outside the main palace area before the bees attacked.
While others were running hectares scattered, some, however, used leaves and tree branches to defend themselves against the bees.
The bees, on the other hand, left after approximately an hour of buzzing around the palace.
Meanwhile, the kingmakers and traditionalists who performed the Alaafin’s burial procedures made no comment on whether or not the bee attack was significant.
There were no injuries recorded. The king was laid to rest, and everything went off without a hitch.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti’s capital, on Friday night.
Adeyemi had been king for 52 years when he died at the age of 83.
