The Nigerian government is aiming to conduct 200,000,000 coronavirus tests by July, Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on Thursday, asked Nigerians to donate their buildings as isolation centres.
On the 30th of April 2020, Nigeria, a country of over 200 million populations has tested 15,759 people and confirmed 1,932 cases of the coronavirus COVID-19.
What did Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire say about the test in Nigeria?
According to the director of NCDC, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control aiming to test two million people in the next three months more buildings would be needed as isolation centres.
“I have appealed to citizens to make their property available temporarily for this purpose. I am sure that after that, there are many property owners who will come up and donate to state governments for a period of time to be used for this function,” Dr Osagie said.
He added that “We are not out of space now but we are making the appeal ahead of time so that we have these facilities ready.”
As at the time of this report, a total of 319 people has been discharged from the covid-19 and 58 killed from the virus.
