Nigerians are eager to begin the second phase of #EndSARS protest across the country, Mandy News reports.
Citizens of the largest BlacK Nation in the world, Nigeria, took to microblogging and social networking service, Twitter on Thursday, December 3 to voice their anger and frustration as they realise the country Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu files suit to stop ongoing state judicial panels on police brutality.
Here’s Everything We Know
With more than 1000 filed petitions by victims of police brutality, the Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu was reportedly seeking a court order to stop the ongoing state judicial panel, Punch News report.
Less than 24 hours after the news was published, a second phase protest begins as elderly men and women took to the streets today at the Tejuosho Market, Yaba, Lagos demanding for justice and an end to police brutality.
According to legal Practitioner and Human Rights Activist, Inibehe Effiong, he said; “The case filed by the police is designed to stall hearings at the various panels of Inquiry across the country. They may begin to raise objections that there is a pending lawsuit on the subject and that the panels should stay proceedings until the case is determined.”
A Nigerian lawyer, human rights advocate, and former Students union leader, Abdul Mahmud said; “You see that IGP denial of a case instituted against Judicial Panels, take it with a trailer of salt. That was how Aodonaka SAN denied he was briefed on freezing of #Endsars supporters’ accounts, only to appear yesterday against Adegboruwa SAN who’s challenging the CBN”
