The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated the All Progressive Congress (APC) to clinch victory at the nation governorship election hung on Saturday.

By this, Jibrila Bindow, the kingdom governor and APC candidate, in search of a second time period in workplace has misplaced his re-election bid to Ahmadu Fintiri, candidate of the PDP inside the election.

The result announced via the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that Mr Fintiri polled 367,471 votes to emerge the winner.

The outgoing governor, Mr Bindow, polled 334,995 votes to come 2nd.

The returning officer for the election, Andrew Haruna, a professor, said while the state has 1,973,083 registered voters, 894, 481 voters have been accepted for the governorship election.

The kingdom is the house of Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 presidential candidate of the PDP who lost his long-desired ambition to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Although Mr Abubakar gained within the nation, Mr Buhari defeated him with over four million votes. The PDP presidential candidate has long gone to the judiciary in a bid to retrieve his ‘alleged’ mandate.
