VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky spent a few minutes speaking on the phone on February 26, and as the president ended the call, he thanked the Pope on Twitter for praying for “peace in Ukraine and a truce.”
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Vatican reported that the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State spoke with Zelensky about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
After call with the pope, Zelensky went to Twitter to thank Pope Francis.
- “Thanked Pope Francis Pontifex for praying for peace in Ukraine and a ceasefire.
- The Ukrainian people feel the spiritual support of His Holiness.“
Mandy News previously reported that the Pope met with Russian Ambassador to the Vatican Alexander Avdeev, breaking with tradition by personally visiting the diplomatic mission.
We hope things get back to normal soon.
