In response to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to run on the Muslim Muslim ticket, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Labour Party (LP) formed a united front against the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Monday.
However, Benue is where the partnership is taking place.
Prior to the elections in 2023, Benue State’s Labour Party has received the support of the whole executive of the SDP, according to the state party’s chairman, Engr. John Enemari, who made the announcement during a press conference on Monday.
Enemari further instructed party chairmen, including executives at the 276 electoral wards of the state’s 23 local government areas, to assist the LP for excellent administration in order to improve the socio-economic circumstances of the populace.
The SDP chairman said, “The crisis at the national level of the party has destabilized everything in all the states of the federation.” He also said that the problem generated factions, and they could not continue to suffer at the national office as the Benue SDP suffered in 2018–19.
Dr. Jude Nyor, a senior legislative aide to Herman Hembe, the LP candidate for governor of Benue, welcomed the development and said that the SDP is a good party that is aware of the direction the nation is headed.
Nyor exclaimed with pleasure as he urged others to join the LP because it is the party to beat in 2023 and because they would save Benue by rebuilding and making it great once more.
