In a major electoral upset, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed a resounding victory in Niger State, defeating both Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
According to official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tinubu received 375,183 votes, while Obi trailed with 80,452 and Atiku came in third with 284,898 votes.
Tinubu’s victory in Niger State is seen as a significant blow to both the PDP and LP, as Niger State has historically been a stronghold for both parties. The APC, on the other hand, has been working hard to gain ground in the state in recent years, and Tinubu’s win is being hailed as a major achievement for the party.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, Tinubu thanked the people of Niger State for their support and promised to work tirelessly to deliver on his campaign promises.
With Tinubu’s victory in Niger State, the APC is now expected to increase its control of the state’s political machinery, which could have significant implications for the upcoming 2023 general elections.
