A video posted on social media shows people trying to rescue victims from the Kings Assembly Church stampede, which left thirty-one people dead.
The disturbing video, first reported by Port Harcourt People, shows first responders, including some of the church members, trying to save victims. But they are already dead, including children, whose lifeless bodies can be seen on the ground.
Kings Assembly Church Stampede
It was a Black Saturday in Port Harcourt as more than 30 people, including children, died as a result of the stampede which occurred at King’s Assembly Church’s’ Shop For Free Programme ‘at Port Harcourt Polo Club.
The video, which was obtained by MandyNews.com, shows some of the victims of the stampede on the floor as doctors and nurses at the Military Hospital, Port Harcourt, are trying their best to attend to them and save as many people as possible.
The church, which is located on Port Harcourt’s GRA axis, is claimed to have invited the entire public to the Polo Club, where the anniversary celebration would be held, to receive food and other gifts.
According to reports, the location grew congested as individuals arrived to receive gifts before the event began, resulting in a stampede in which dozens of people were said to have died.
According to multiple sources, the mob began pouring into the venue about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and, in order to gain entry, pushed through a tiny gate at the venue, causing many individuals to fall down and be stampeded to death.
