William Ruto defeated former prime minister Raila Odinga to win the Kenyan presidential election on Monday, becoming the country’s fifth president.
The election commission of the nation declares that the deputy president won with 50.49% of the vote.
Raila Odinga, who campaigned for office five times, was defeated by the Ruto in his first election. 48.5% of voters chose Odinga.
Despite serving as Kenya’s deputy president, Ruto was able to win the presidency in the country’s fiercely disputed general election on Tuesday.
