Baba Ijesha Sentenced To 16 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault On Minor

Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, a disgraced Nollywood actor, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl last year and was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Thursday.

Baba Ijesha was charged with six charges of child defilement, including sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and indecent treatment of a minor.

According to the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, who brought the accusations against the movie star, the offenses violated Sections 135, 137, 261, 202, 262, and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015, which mandates life in prison for perpetrators.

Baba Ijesha entered a not guilty plea to each charge. However, a video recording from closed-circuit television describing his relationship with the victim—who was allegedly a minor—was played in court.

Baba Ijesha was found guilty of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, and indecent treatment of a child by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo after hearing the case for two hours.

However, the judge cleared him of counts one and six, which were sexual penetration assault and attempted sexual penetration assault, and released him from the case.

Damilola Adekoya, commonly known as Princess, an actress and comedian, was the mother of the young girl.

Now, Baba Ijesha would serve 16 years in prison.
