Coronavirus: Oyo State Surpasses 55 Countries As Cases Spike

Oyo reportedly conducted over 1,400 Covid-19 tests since the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak in Africa most populous country.

Nigeria’s Oyo has carried out 1,420 tests for the coronavirus, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday.

On Wednesday Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed six new Covid-19 infections in Ibadan South West Local Government Area.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for six suspected cases came back POSITIVE. All six cases are from the same organisation, iSON Xperiences in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 143,” Seyi said.

“The company remains shut and will be decontaminated. The Emergency Operations Centre has continued intensive contact tracing to identify persons of interest linked to members of staff in the company,” he added.

At the time of this report, Oyo coronavirus cases have surpassed 55 countries and territories around the world.
