The magistrate court heard at Wuse Zone 2, Abuja on Monday, January 11 has granted Omoyele Sowore bail in the sum of 20 million naira after meeting bail condition.
The founder of Sahara Reporters and convener of the Revolution Now Movement, Sowore, Peter Williams, Sanyaolu Juwon, Emmanuel Bulus and Damilare Ademola were arrested on 2021 New Year’s eve during a procession organised and led by Sowore.
What is Sowore bail condition?
- He was bail in the sum of N20 million and two sureties in like sum
- One of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 12 in the federal civil service.
- He must not travel outside Abuja metropolis or outside the country pending the determination of the case.
What Sowore said about his arrest and bail
They kept us inside mosquito-infested cells run by #SARS in Abuja, after that they sent us to Kuje prison and later another dingy cell police cell operated by the FCIID, today we’ve been granted bail on discriminatory and harsh conditions.
Where are others arrested with Sowore?
They were granted bail in liberal terms with a bond of one million each. They are also to produce one surety in like sum who “must be resident in Abuja with an identifiable workplace and residential address”.
