Two people were sentenced to imprisonment for up to four years by a high court in Benin City, Edo State, on Friday.
The accused were found to be involved in internet fraud, defrauding their victims of a total sum of N1, 321,273,278.
The fraudster, Eghaghe Etinosa, was sentenced to four years in prison.
The other accused, Osaretin Kelly, was also awarded four years of imprisonment.
Eghaghe Etinosa and Osaretin Kelly were arraigned this year on one-count charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Etinosa was sentenced for assisting online fraudsters as a picker “aka Aza man” (receiver of payments).
Kelly defrauded his victims by impersonating Dottie Ayanda, a South African woman.
The High Court, presided over by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, imprisoned the two Internet fraudsters for one billion, three hundred and twenty one million, two hundred and seventy-three thousand, two hundred and seventy-eight Naira fraud in forfeiture of vehicle and landed property to the Federal Government.
