Police in Nigeria’s South South state have arrested a man who confessed to beheading his toddler son for ritual purposes.
Following his wife’s call to the police to report the child’s disappearance, Gabriel Volts was taken into custody.
”Delta State Police Command has arrested one Gabriel Volts age 33years who allegedly beheaded his son for ritual,” a Police Public Relations Officer for Delta Police wrote on social media on Saturday.
“Suspect used a hand saw to cut off the head of his one year and eight months old son at Etinabobo bush in Edo state for ritual purposes and buried him by the palm tree,” the PPRO added.
Born in Delta, Gabriel Following the child’s disappearance, the suspect was apprehended. After claiming to the wife that the son was in Warri with his sister, which turned out to be untrue, the wife grew suspicious and reported the him to the police.
Authorities say that the suspect has admitted to the alleged crime.
