Nigeria Police Force issues a warning against the use of the slogan 'No gree for anybody,' popularized on social media by youths and celebrities, citing potential risks of inciting unrest.

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a warning against the use of the slogan “No gree for anybody,” popular among Nigerian youth. The phrase, which became prominent in 2024, has been linked to potential unrest.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during a press briefing where 67 suspects were paraded, stated that the slogan could incite problems nationwide. He highlighted that although it appears to be a normal phrase, it is considered dangerous in security circles.

This phrase, which has become increasingly popular since 2024, originated from a WhatsApp status by DJ Mims on December 1, 2023. It gained further prominence after Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile pinned a comment about it on Twitter.

The police caution comes amidst the slogan’s growing popularity on social media, where it has resonated with young Nigerians and celebrities alike.

The authorities are urging the public to be aware of the implications of using such phrases, given the potential for them to incite conflict.
