BENUE – Police have arrested three suspects over the attack on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue on Sunday.
According to the Nigeria police force, the suspects are not Fulani but three Jukun fishermen.

Jukun is believed to be descendants of the people of Kororofa, one of the most powerful Sudanic kingdoms during the late European Middle Ages now living on the upper Benue River in Nigeria.
The three people were arrested on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, by the police in connection with the attack on the governor.
In the video obtained by Mandy News, Mr. Samuel said he ran one and a half kilometers to escape from being killed by the 15 gunmen as his security officers engaged them in gun-battle.
Reacting to the video, the Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM, claimed responsibility for the attack on the Governor.
Information gathered by MandyNews.com seems to indicate that Security Adviser to Ortom, Col. Paul Hemba, confirmed the arrest of three of the suspects while conducting newsmen around the scene of the attack on Tuesday.
Hemba said the police team found the fishermen close to the scene of the attack and are being investigated.
