Police Deploy 15,544 Policemen To Rivers

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed 15,544 policemen to Rivers State for the February sixteen presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to Usman Belel, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, the deployment is to red meat up security and make sure smooth behavior of election inside the kingdom.

Rivers State is presently heated up due to the barring of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from fielding any candidate in the nation.

The birthday celebration individuals held a protest on the country workplace of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday, and have been dispersed by Police and Army with tear-gasoline canisters.

Addressing reporters in Port Harcourt, Belel said: “There may be radical departure from the beyond elections usually characterised with the aid of violence. Together, we shall get it right this time. Rivers State will outlive the elections.

“On our component, we promise to be neutral, apolitical and professional and to offer level-gambling fields for all the political parties to exercise their franchise.”

Belel brought that each land and water approaches could be close from 12midnight on Friday until 4pm on Saturday.
