The Maine State Police have initiated a statewide manhunt for Robert Card, a former firearms instructor with the U.S. Army Reserve, following a devastating mass shooting at the Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant and the Sparetime Recreation bowling alley.
Card, known for his affiliation with the Army Reserve and his extensive firearms training, is stationed out of Saco, Maine. He has been recognized for his skills in the past, but recent events have cast a shadow on his reputation.
A Descent into Crisis
Friends and colleagues of Card have reported a noticeable change in his behavior leading up to the incident. He was admitted to a mental health facility in the summer of 2023 after he began to exhibit signs of severe mental distress, including auditory hallucinations and threats of violence against a National Guard Base in Saco. After a two-week evaluation and treatment period, he was released.
Vehicle Information and Public Advisory
Card is believed to be driving a 2013 White Subaru Outback, distinguishable by its black bumper. The vehicle is registered in Maine, with the license plate number 9246PD.
The Maine State Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and to prioritize their personal safety. Card is considered armed and dangerous. Any sightings of Card or his vehicle should be reported immediately to the Maine State Police.
Residents and businesses in Lewiston and the surrounding areas are advised to stay indoors, keep doors locked, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
