Sammie Okposo, a deceased gospel singer, had funeral services on Friday as his supporters and loved ones gathered to say their final goodbyes.
The ceremony is hosted in Lagos, the second-largest city in Africa.
Sammie Okposo, the gospel performer from Nigeria who was also a music producer, psalmist, and CEO of Zamar Entertainment, passed away on November 25, 2022, in his Lagos residence.
The 51-year-old multi-award winner is reported to have collapsed early in the morning after fighting depression for several weeks.
Numerous people came up to pay their respects to the vocalist during a busy day in Lagos; some wore white while others wore black. His wife, Ozioma, was seen to be inconsolable as she poured sand into his grave during the funeral.
The singer, whose debut album, “Unconditional Love,” featured the hit song “Welu-Welu,” was buried at a private cemetery in Ikoyi following a church service led by Dr. Flourish Peters, head pastor of The L.O.G.I.C. Church and senior pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin.
Ozioma, his wife, was unable to contain her tears as she stood at the gravesite after the casket was dropped into the ground.
When it came time to bury the body, mourners had to help the grieving woman.
