Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike held a question-and-answer session on Silverbird Rhythm 93.7 Viewpointph on Wednesday, May 6, and he tackled some of the biggest questions facing the Portharcourt these days on how to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
On Tuesday, May 5, Governor Wike tightens lockdown in his state which he said will begin on May 7 until further notice.
What did governor wike say about the coronavirus lockdown?
“We are making a sacrifice for the state”- Wike
“You can’t say that every state must belong to one political party. It’s not correct”- Wike
“My first priority is to protect lives. all am appealing to my people is if we don’t do anything now, we will fall into a serious problem”- Wike
“Politics should be kept aside this is a serious matter”- Wike
“You cannot force somebody for collaboration, I have done everything required for that”- Wike
“What we are doing is a proactive action”- Wike
“The machine Shell will be bringing will be at the Rivers State University teaching hospital so everybody will have access to it”- Wike
On coronavirus the Governor said;
“It is affecting the economy of the state”- Wike
On workers salaries he said;
“Salaries of workers have been paid since April”- Wike
What Wike said about farmers?
He said; “We are encouraging our farmers.we have told traditional rulers we are buying off every of their produce.we are in a war period,its not a conventional war”
Governor Wike also said federal goverment of Nigeria did not give his state money.
“No one dime was given to Rivers state”
