Angelique Kidjo beats Wizkid to win the Grammy for best world music album in 2022.
The 61-year-old legendary singer received the title for “Best Global Music Album” with her “Mother Nature” album, beating out Wizkid’s Made In Lagos Deluxe.
Angelique Kidjo, the Grammy Award winner for the fourth time, shows no mercy.
She took home the 2022 prize for “Mother Nature” album,” which beat out albums by Wizkid (“Made In Lagos: Deluxe Edition”), Femi Kuti And Made Kuti (“Legacy”), Daniel Ho & Friends (“East West Players Presents: Daniel Ho & Friends Live In Concert”) and Rocky Dawuni (“Voice Of Bunbon, Vol. 1”).
Mother Nature is Angélique’s first original album in seven years, following the Grammy-winning Celia in 2019 and her radical reimagining of Talking Heads’ landmark LP Remain In Light in 2018.
