The driver of a BRT bus has been imprisoned in connection with the death of Bamise Ajetunmobi for 30 days.
Andrew Nice Omininikoron, the driver of the BRT bus that transported the late Bamise Ayanwole, has been remanded in custody until April 11th, 2022.
What happened:
After Bamise’s lifeless body was discovered on a major expressway in Lagos, Omininikoron was named as the prime suspect. He was arrested after failing to show up for work the next day.
The suspect was arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos on Friday at 12 p.m. and remanded after the police filed an application.
Meanwhile, Barrister Ayo Ademiluyi, a Lead Partner at Newworth LLP and a rights activist and lawyer for the deceased’s family, stated that Bamise’s family is requesting an autopsy on the deceased corpse to determine whether or not her body was mutilated.
- “We want an autopsy to be conducted on her body in order for the facts to be ascertained whether her private parts or any of her organs was cut off.”
Because BRT vehicles were widely perceived to be safe, Bamise’s murder sent shockwaves across Nigeria’s 36 states.
