“Wrongful Arrest”: High Court Urges Government To Pay Nnamdi Kanu N1billion

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, whose house was invaded by the Nigerian security agents in 2017 has been declared innocent.

ABIA STATE – The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, whose house was invaded by the Nigerian security agents in 2017 has been declared innocent.

The Abia State High Court declared that the invasion of Mr Kanu’s residence was unlawful and an infringement on his human rights.

The judgment led by Justice Benson Anya on Wednesday decreed that Nnamdi Kanu abduction and forceful return to Nigeria was “illegal” under local and international laws.

Reports in local media said the Judge ordered that the Nigerian government should the sum of N1 billion as compensation for the violation of fundamental human rights to Nnamdi Kanu.
