A 24-year-old Rwandan woman named Liliane Mugabekazi has been charged with indecent dressing after being arrested on August 7 after attending a concert in a transparent dress.
The most popular social media platforms all featured a photo of Liliane Mugabekazi Dress, who recently attended a concert by well-known French musician Tayc.
The image became so popular that some dignitaries criticized Liliane.
The current Rwandan ambassador to the United Kingdom, Busingye Johnston, criticized and labeled insulting Liliane’s choice of clothing in a tweet that was seen by MandyNews.com on his verified account.
- “The current issue of our young men and women who drink and drug themselves unconsciously, then appear in public literally naked is objectionable,” he wrote.
Speaking on behalf of the prosecution, Faustin Nkusi said the woman had committed a serious offense by being bare in public and that her attire was shameful.
A Rwandan newspaper called The Chronicles reports that the 24-year-old woman showed up in court on Thursday.
It has been reported that Liliane’s lawyer asked the court to hold the hearings in secret.
This is not the first time something similar has happened; in March 2022, police apprehended a 20-year-old woman for “public drunkenness and indecent assault” after a video of her lying on the ground in a drunken stupor was circulated on social media.
