The Lagos State Government has brought charges against Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Drambi Vandi for the alleged murder of Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem.
The incident occurred on Christmas Day and has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice in the legal community.
Vandi was charged with one count of murder in violation of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. During his arraignment, Vandi pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, the arraignment which was scheduled for 9am faced some delay and did not commence until 11am, when Vandi’s counsel, Mr Adetokunbo Odutola arrived.
The legal community, civil society organizations and the general public are closely monitoring the case.
Many have called for a fair and transparent trial, in order to establish the truth about the death of Omobolanle Raheem, and bring the perpetrator to justice.
May her soul rest in peace!
