A Nigerian police officer told People Gazette that Deborah Yakubu’s killer in a viral video is from the Niger Republic and they couldn’t find him in Sokoto.
The day Deborah Yakubu was stoned to death at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, a young man said he killed her and set her on fire in a viral video.
In the video, the young man says, “I killed her.” I burned her. You can see the matchbox I used in setting her ablaze here. “
Good News: On that day, men of the Nigerian police came to the school to calm the situation and arrested two of the many suspects.
Sad News: On the 14th of May, some Muslim youths took to the streets of Sokoto to protest the release of the two young men who were arrested and burned down several properties in the State.
The Main News: The police in Sokoto have crowned the man in the viral video as a foreigner who came to Nigeria to cause havoc.
According to a police source who spoke to a Nigerian news outlet, the prime suspect is a foreign interloper from Niger Republic.
The cruise: The police claimed they scoured the entire state for the suspect but were unable to locate him until they discovered he was not a Nigerian citizen.
What the police told the People Gazette:
- “We started looking for him immediately we saw his video on social media because he is fundamental to our investigation”
- “We are now learning that he is not even a Nigerian but only came in illegally from Niger Republic to cause chaos in our country.”
What are the police next steps to arrest the Niger citizen?
The law enforcement officer told the news outlet that Interpol might be enlisted to help arrest the suspect.
What he said:
- “We have no facial recognition database, but we are following all available intelligence on the matter.”
The Christian Association of Nigeria has now called for a nationwide protest demanding justice for the lynching and burning of the 200-level students of Shehu Shagari College of Education.
Stay safe out there and respect everyone’s religion. If you are being offended by anyone, report them to the law enforcement agency. Don’t take the law into your hand.
