What made the DSS want to arrest Godwin Emefiele? What did he actually do? What we know so far is as follows.
As we were reporting on the Doyin Okupe money laundering case on Monday afternoon, we sighted another post on People Gazette claiming that Justice John Tsoho had lambasted the SSS for filing a motion to arrest Godwin Emefiele.
According to the source, Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court was angry with the State Security Service for not following the correct process.
The news, which was released on Monday, December 19, has gained a lot of attention and is receiving a lot of response from Nigerians.
The motive for the law enforcement agencies’ desire to apprehend the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, however, is still unclear to a large number of Nigerians.
Because of this, MandyNews.com, your favorite blog, decided to share everything we know so far about the story.
Emefiele Arrest
In a decision dated December 13, 2022, Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court turned down to approve an arrest warrant requested by the SSS to detain Mr. Emefiele, stating that the secret police had failed to prove its allegations against the head of the nation’s central bank while also concealing his identity to trick the court into approving an invalid motion.
The judge ruled that the SSS failed to provide proof of President Muhammadu Buhari’s consent prior to bringing the obscene and unsubstantiated charges in court.
The judge ruled that the SSS has the authority to hold and arrest Mr. Emefiele without a warrant, but the secret police seemed frantic to obtain a court order because it lacked any solid justification for going after the CBN governor.
Why Did the SSS Want To Arrest Godwin Emefiele?
According to information obtained by Mandy News, Mr. Godwin Emefiele was the target of an attempted arrest due to accusations of terrorism and economic offences.
However, it results to protest in Abuja by civic organizations who claimed to have learned of an attempt to detain Mr. Emefiele on charges of terrorism and financial crimes. Asserting that the SSS had performed successfully since his appointment in 2014, the organisations cautioned that such a move could destroy the country’s economy.
