Willie Obiano was apprehended by the EFCC at Lagos International Airport while attempting to flee the country.
Willie Obiano, who had just finished his tenure as the fifth governor of Anambra State, was arrested on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, as he tried to flee the country.
Obiano was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after less than 10 hours of handling over to Professor Charles Soludo.
According to the report obtained by Mandy News, he was minutes away from boarding a flight to another country.
Mr. Obiano was suspected to have been investigated by the anti-graft agency.
After his wife got into a fight with Lady Bianca Ojukwu, he became enraged and left the Anambra government house, then flew to Lagos.
The 66-year-old politician, who is also a banker and a technocrat, was taken by the EFCC to the Lagos head office, where he will be interrogated.
At the time of writing, it was unclear why the governor had been placed on a watchlist by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
