Wizkid was paid $1 million to headline Rolling Loud Toronto this year, which is a huge sum by any measure, but it’s a big win for afrobeat when you consider Davido was reportedly paid a similar sum to perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final draw.

Wizkid, the greatest musician in the history of African music, was so excited to share with his fans on Tuesday how much he was being paid by the organizers of Rolling Loud Toronto.

Last year, Wizkid made $9.3 million from his concerts in the United States and London.

The Canadian edition of Rolling Loud will take place at Ontario Place in Toronto from September 9 to 11. Dave, Future, and Wizkid are among the headliners, with Lil Uzi Vert, Migos, Roddy Ricch, Trippie Redd, Lil Yachty, A Boogie Wit Da Hoody, and others also on the bill.

Rolling Loud unveiled the lineup for its Miami event in 2022 last month, with Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Future headlining.

Wizkid is the lone Nigerian musician among the many superstars that will be playing at the show in September.

DaBaby’s performance at last year’s festival was universally criticized when the rapper made offensive statements against HIV/AIDS patients and the LGBT community.

This month, Burna Boy will perform at Madison Square Garden, while in November, Davido will perform at Qatar 2022’s opening ceremony. It’s all win win for Nigeria and Afrobeat.
